MARY AILEEN MATHEIS

One of Mary Aileen´s proudest moments was to be chosen as Woman of the Year by Senator Ross Jonson. The award was presented in the Senate Chamber in Sacramento before the entire body.
In addition to serving as Vice President of the Irvine Ranch Board of Directors, Mary Aileen is a practicing lawyer, a member of the California Bar and the Orange County Bar Association. She served as Temporary Judge for the Orange County Superior Court, and is an Arbitrator for the Orange County Bar Association. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Real Estate Section of the Orange County Bar and previously served as Chairman of the Section and past chairman of the Senior Lawyer Section of the Bar. She is a member of the Trusts and Estate Planning Section as well and active in the St. Thomas More Society.
On August 19, 2008, Mary Aileen was re-appointed to the Orange County Assessment Appeals Board by Supervisor Bill Campbell. She has served as a member of the Panel since 1992 and has been the panel representative to the Orange County Clerk of the Board Office.
Mary Aileen is an active member of the Orange County Association of Realtor and has been honored a Realtor of the Year on three separate occasions for that association.
She has been honored by the California Association as Distinguished Realtor of the Year for her many years of service to the State Association, serving as the CREPAC Trustee, the IMPAC Trustee and the Legal Action Trustee. She additionally served on the Political Action Committee, the Federal District Coordinating Committee, Awards Committee is an Honorary Director for Life.
Matheis also continues to serve on the National Association of Realtors as member of the Federal Taxation Committee and the Political Action Coordinating Committee. She previously served as chairman of the Legal Action Committee and the Issues Mobilization Committee.
She is proud to be a member of the Exchange Club of Irvine, a business organization dedicated to eliminating child abuse. Locally she served on the Orange County Cancer Committee, the original Measure M oversight committee. Since 1993 she has been a member of the Lincoln Club of Orange County.
Mary Aileen is a founding Board member of the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, the reconstructed wetlands located in the center of Irvine. She is the President of Shadetree Partnership, a non-profit association dedicated to planting trees in public places.
As a original member of the Restoration Advisory Board she is monitored the environmental clean-up of the former El Toro Marine Corp Base.
Mary Aileen Matheis has worked consistently to maintain the high quality of concern for the public and public service the people of Orange County deserve and she earnestly ask for your vote on November 4, 2008.

Mary Aileen is currently the Vice President of the Irvine Ranch Water District Board. She served as President in 2001 and has previously served as Vice President. She is the chairman of the Water Policy and Government Affairs Committee. Mary Aileen represents the district on several water related committees, including the Orange County Coastal Coalition, Independent Districts of Orange County, Irvine Chamber of Commerce, Orange County Council of Governments. She is also an alternate to the Orange County Nature Conservancy. Mary Aileen has been asked to serve as liaison to the many cities, including Irvine, Tustin, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Orange.
She is a member of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Association of California Water Agencies. She is the representative to the UCI Urban Water Research Center, and a member of the board of directors of the Urban Water Institute. She also serves a the district representative to the Southern California Water Committee. She is assigned to attend the annual Power Conference (that is Public Officials for Water and Environmental Reform). She also represent the District at Executive Briefings of the Water Education Foundation and participate in the policy tours of sensitive areas. It is the policy of the District to encourage Board members to be involved in all phases of civic activities to be aware if issues in the community and to bring the message of water ethics to both the business interests and local citizens.
I have been appointed to the Legal Affairs Committee of the Association of California Water Agencies by ACWA leadership. I also represent IRWD as the alternate representative on the National Water Research Institute. I am one of the Directors actively involved for the District with the Cities of Irvine, Lake Forest and Newport Beach. On behalf of Irvine Ranch Water District I attend the Public Officials for Water and Environmental Reform (POWER) Conference and Executive Briefings by the Water Education Foundation.
It is the policy of the District to encourage Board members to be involved in all phases of civic activities to be aware of issues in the community and to bring the message of water ethics to both the business interests and local citizens.
