DISTRICT ACTIVITIES

As a Director of the Irvine Ranch Water District, I served as President of the District in 2001, and I am serving as Vice President in 2004, a post I previously enjoyed in prior years. I am chairman of the Water Resources Policy and Communications Committee and assigned to the Energy, Technology and Environmental Stewardship Committee. I am the Board representative to the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, as well as Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee and the Southern California Water Committee, where I serve on the Water Quality Task Force and the Water Banking Task Force. I am the District representative to the Orange County Council of Governments and the Independent Special District of Orange County Executive Committee. I was appointed Director of the Urban Water Research Institute and representative to the UCI Urban Water Research Center.

I have been appointed to the Legal Affairs Committee of the Association of California Water Agencies by ACWA leadership. I also represent IRWD as the alternate representative on the National Water Research Institute. I am one of the Directors actively involved for the District with the Cities of Irvine, Lake Forest and Newport Beach. On behalf of Irvine Ranch Water District I attend the Public Officials for Water and Environmental Reform (POWER) Conference and Executive Briefings by the Water Education Founcation.

It is the policy of the District to encourage Board members to be involved in all phases of civic activities to be aware of issues in the community and to bring the message of water ethics to both the business interests and local citizens.
